New Member Profile: Zoar Books and Gallery

Zoar Books and Gallery is located in the woods by the Deerfield River 

(7/13/2010) Dale Bulmer of Zoar Books & Gallery has been in business in Charlemont since 2003.

Dale and his wife Bonnie Lee met in 1997. In fact, the bookstore was her idea. When Dale retired from the Post Office they opened the bookstore as a retirement business for him. 

Dale grew up in Springfield and lived in Westfield for 20 years. He worked in machine maintenance for the Post Office until he retired in 2003.

The Bookstore is in a converted barn attached to the Bulmer's house on Zoar Road in Charlemont on the banks of the Deerfield River. There’s not a lot of foot traffic, and much of Zoar Books’  business is done online through Amazon, ABE Books, Alibris and other internet booksellers that work with booksellers like Dale. He is a member of MARIAB - the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Antiquarian Booksellers, too. The bookstore is particularly strong in science fiction, a lifelong passion of Dale’s.

Dale’s exploring Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites to help engage his customers and to find new ones.  

Hours are: Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday – 10:00am to 5:00pm and Friday & Saturday – 10:00am to 6:00pm.
