Consultants to work with member businesses
(11/12/09) Western Massachusetts Electric Company has awarded the Shelburne Falls Area Business Association a grant for $9000 to collaborate with Environmental Compliance Services (ECS) to pilot a sustainability assessment and planning service for SFABA members. The program will evaluate business and energy practices, the cost associated with those practices and their carbon footprint in an effort to plan for and develop a sustainable business.
Five diverse businesses (retail, restaurant, manufacturing, service provider, and accommodations) will be selected through an application process available to the members. The businesses selected will receive an audit that will demonstrate where costs can be reduced and profits can be enhanced by implementing a feasible plan that will help sustain local business.
The data collected will be disseminated to the SFABA membership and the public to enable additional involvement throughout the local community and hopefully will encourage others to become involved.
