Please join us Saturday, March 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Shelburne Senior Center for the inaugural volunteer training for the Buckland-Shelburne Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program—neighbors lending a hand to help elder neighbors remain in their own homes. Sue Pratt will offer a training and orientation session entitled “Creating Circles of Care around Our Older Neighbors”. Sue will lead us through the basics of understanding the aging process, communication, confidentiality, some basic do’s and don’ts, provide resources lists and still leave plenty of time for getting to know the other volunteers in the program. The training is free and breakfast will be provided. If you have been considering volunteering through the Neighbor to Neighbor Program, now is a good time to get involved. There are Buckland and Shelburne seniors currently waiting to make a connection with a neighbor willing to do one of the following activities: stop by and visit, provide weekly transportation to the grocery store or go to the grocery store for the senior, remove storm windows (later this spring), mow the lawn this summer, wash windows, bring firewood into the house, provide a ride to a local nursing home to visit a family member, help get recycling to the transfer station. If you have an hour or hour and a half per week to volunteer and get to know an older neighbor, give us a call! For more information, or to register for the Neighbor-to-Neighbor volunteer training, call Therese at 625-2502 or email her at
