Collaboration Brings New Book Offerings to Village
(11/10/09) A small group of used and antiquarian booksellers have collaborated and formed the Shelburne Falls Booksellers which will showcase quality offerings of the three founders.
Buy the Book, owned by Richard Floyd of South Deerfield, occupies one of the mini galleries and offers a wide range of Americana and Natural Science books along with antique prints, ephemera and smalls.
Michael Muilenberg, also of South Deerfield, will feature a quality selection of American and British history and biographies, literature and modern first edition fiction, and a selection of books on the Sciences, particularly Botany.
Duane A. Stevens, proprietor of Wiggins Fine Books, offers a selection of American and British fiction, first editions, signed limited editions and fine press books along with antiquarian prints, ephemera, and small antiques.
Kathleen Pew, owner of Monroe Bridge Books in Greenfield and Nancy Dole of Nancy Dole Books & Ephemera of Shelburne Falls will also display wares in the shop.
The objective of the Shelburne Falls Booksellers is to fill the void created by the recent closing of several bookshops in Western Massachusetts by offering a unique array of books in one space, from common to rare, along with a variety of related materials. Items are selected to appeal to a wide variety of booklovers, from those seeking a good used copy of a John Updike novel to a scarce signed limited edition or a matted and framed 19th century hand colored print. The members are committed to providing a comfortable, orderly and inviting bookshop with comfortable seating.
The Shelburne Falls Booksellers is located at 5 Bridge Street (rear) in Shelburne Falls and is directly accessed from Deerfield Avenue. The shop is open from 11 am - 5 pm Thursday through Sunday, with additional hours by chance or appointment, and special open hours on event days such as Opera Saturdays and Moonlight Magic.
