Description

The annual Moonlight Magic in Shelburne Falls will continue the tradition of kicking off the holiday season always on the Friday following Thanksgiving from 4:30 – 10:00 PM.  The gala yearly event begins with the “Lighting of the Village”, at approximately 4:30 pm and stores, galleries and restaurants will stay open late for special holiday promotions.  Vendors will be offering a rich assortment of items, including baked goods, crafts, delicious food and hot drinks.

Shortly after the town officially lights up, the parade will be held at 5:15 and participants will cross over the Iron Bridge from Buckland to Shelburne.  Mole Hollow Candle Co. will be providing 1,200 luminary candles which will line both sides of the streets throughout the village as visitors look on while the Parade of Lights welcomes Santa, the Grinch and Max, Clifford, the Snow Princess and many more make their way through town.

Throughout the evening Street performers, local vocal and instrumental groups will perform at designated indoor sites and along the streets.  At Memorial Hall Theater, children and their families can watch cartoons on the big screen from 5:30-8:00 pm courtesy of the Memorial Hall Association.  The Shelburne Falls Women’s Club will hold their annual cookie shop at the Visitor’s Center and Santa’s Workshop will be in full swing at the Shelburne-Buckland Senior Center.  Another highlight will be a chance to ride the brightly lit and beautifully restored trolley after dark.

Shelburne Falls with a ride on a trolley is worth a trip from anywhere in New England.  Shelburne Falls was itself named “one of the prettiest small towns in New England” and is full of artisan shops, galleries, restaurants and attractions such as the historic Bridge of Flowers and the Glacial Potholes of the Deerfield River.  Shelburne Falls is only two hours from Boston and 45 minutes from Springfield on Route 2 heading west to the Berkshires.
