Bridge of Flowers Road Race Grants Awarded

Surplus Race Funds Returned to Our Community

(2/1/09) The SFABA Board and 10K Bridge of Flowers Race Committee have awarded $2200 in grants to non-profit organizations in the area.

Profits from the 2008 Race were set aside in a competitive Grant Program to benefit the community.

The Bridge of Flowers10K Grant Program was developed by the Board to give back to our community any excess funds generated by the race by supporting programs which seek to develop the next generation of athletes as well as strengthen our community in other ways.

2008 grants included:

• Bridge of Flowers Committee - $400 for the School Planting Project
• Shelburne Falls Community Center - $400 to repair front stairs railing and purchase a defibrillator
• Academy of Charlemont - $400 for the Hilltown Youth Soccer League
• Village Information Center - $500 to maintain the Information Center
• Franklin County Ice Hockey - $350 for an Introduction to Ice Hockey program
• Buckland Historical Society - $150 to purchase a new dehumidifier
