Tourists | Shelburne Falls Yoga Becomes a Kripalu Affiliate Studio |
|
Four busy months have passed since I stepped into my new role as director at Shelburne Falls Yoga and many new programs and classes are underway! We are expanding as students both new and old come to experience the variety of offerings here at the studio. It has been my mission as director not only to offer the highest quality yoga instruction with dedicated and experienced teachers but also to share the benefits of yoga with the wider community through children’s programs, special classes and events, and free community workshops. Many children have begun yoga and dance classes here at the studio in recent months and I’ve also been traveling to Heath Elementary School to offer yoga classes to students during the school day. I am pleased to offer K-12 teachers a 10% discount at the studio in recognition of their work with area children and I’ve recently begun a fund in honor of my grandparents to support continued yoga instruction in area schools. The Stanley and Muriel Smithers Community Fund was made possible by gifts from the Smithers family and carries on the tradition of these long-time Shelburne Falls residents in guiding and teaching community youth.
In the spirit of this growth and expansion, I’m pleased to announce that Shelburne Falls Yoga is now a Kripalu Affiliate Studio. Shelburne Falls Yoga continues to be independently owned and operated but steps into this alliance with Kripalu Center in order to further the mission of sharing the benefits of yoga with all. It has been my great joy to introduce Kripalu Yoga to many of you just as Kripalu Center has done for the thousands of visitors it receives each year.
The Kripalu tradition honors the individual, promotes compassion, and taps into the full potential of each student with classes designed to bring the breath, the body, and the mind into alignment. Many students notice rapid gains in strength and flexibility and experience greater levels of calm as they learn to harness the power of breath and body working together. Yoga is for everyone regardless of age or ability and all of the teachers at Shelburne Falls Yoga are committed to sharing the spirit of inquiry, compassion, and change with all.
We’ll be having several events to celebrate Shelburne Falls Yoga as a Kripalu Affiliate Studio. The first is on July 9th at the intersection of Water and Main Streets in Shelburne Falls. It is Yoga on the Green, a free outdoor class for all levels from 11 to 11:45. Please help us to celebrate by joining in this event!
