Over 300 Riders Participate In Ride

(9/21/10) On Sunday, September 12th over 300 motorcycles visited Shelburne Falls for the Annual Hidden Hills Mystery Ride.  “The overcast skies and cool temperatures kept the number of riders down, but overall the event was a great success,” said coordinator Buzz Caron.

This year’s annual Mystery Ride was a fundraiser to help support organ transplant organizations.  It is estimated that the event raised nearly $7, 000.  The first ride was held 10 years ago in memory of Caron’s daughter.

“Sarah Caron was seventeen at the time of her death. Sarah, an avid sports enthusiast, lettered in three sports and was president of her class. She was a passenger in a car on Halloween night, 1990, that struck a tree. Sarah lives today in our memories of course, but also in the people that were the lucky recipients of the organs that she donated.

This ride is in her honor and 100% of the money that is raised goes to fund an annual scholarship that is given to deserving students in her name. Also, each year a donation is made to local organ transplant organizations for the purpose of helping people in need.”

The Shelburne Falls Area Business Association collected area products for a raffle to support the fundraiser.  In total the basket included over $650 worth of local product.  “The businesses really stepped up to the plate to help us and we really appreciate it,”  stated Caron.
