Local Business Owner Donates Tips (12/14/10) Dogs On The Run owner Rick Sumner recently decided to help the community by donating money to the Shelburne Senior Center and the Bridge of Flowers Committee. Starting in July, he kept a tip jar for donations, receiving a lot of positive feedback from his customers. In late September, Rick collected the tips and gave $100 to each recipient. Rick chose the Shelburne Senior Center because the elderly often do not receive as much attention or resources as they should from society. As for the Bridge of Flowers Committee, Rick wanted to support a landmark that has significantly boosted the town’s business. The whole idea of donating therefore came from a desire to repay the community, aiding the people who have done so much to make it a home. Rick started his business in July, purchasing a cart to serve Coney Dogs, veggie dogs, nachos, chips, and soda. He has lived in Buckland for the past seventeen years, and his wife is from the area. He will be adding a grill in the spring. According to Rick, the best part of being a business owner in Shelburne Falls is meeting all the different people from different cultures. So, everyone is encouraged to stop by Dogs On The Run, grab a Coney Dog, and individualize it with a variety of toppings! |
