TRINA SEARS STERNSTEIN: Imagined Landscapes - Reception 4-6 pm

For Hawley, MA painter Trina Sears Sternstein, living in Western Massachusetts gives her the inspiration for her art. Its landscapes are the fodder for her own imagined landscape paintings. Sternstein’s paintings are exquisitely detailed in a completely atmospheric way. She takes her time to paint each piece and that consideration shows. In her own words:

Gaudy Moon Sternstein 300 pixels

“For my entire life I have loved the landscape of Western Massachusetts. For me it has a beauty which I have never taken for granted. Parts of it are still peaceful. The objects one sees and the sounds one hears are natural ones. I places we can still see the night sky without competition from flashing or other man-made lights.

My paintings are not of any particular places. I make up the compositions and attempt to express my feelings about the place where I live in color, tone, pattern and line.

Western MA, in fact all of New England, is threatened with industrialization. I hope that my pictures among other things will makes some small contribution to saving what is left of the loveliness of our area by reminding people of it.”
