A favorite of all ages, Hannah will do a Crankie puppet performance!
What’s a crankie, you ask? It’s a traditional storytelling art form that combines visuals and performance. Imagine a long illustrated scroll wound onto two spools, loaded into a box with a small viewing window. As the scroll is slowly hand-cranked, the images move across the window, bringing the story to life. The performance is often accompanied by narration, song, or music, creating a magical and immersive experience.
The Parade of Lights kicks off on Conway Street (Buckland side), featuring a dazzling procession led by The Art Garden's enchanting Lantern Holders. This year’s parade boasts a variety of exciting participants, all accompanying Santa through the village. The journey culminates at the corner of Bridge Street and Deerfield Avenue, where Santa lights the Community Tree, spreading holiday cheer. The parade concludes at the intersection of Bridge Street and Main Street, as Santa makes his grand entrance into Santa's Workshop at 7 Main Street.
As you wander along Bridge Street, admiring the festive window displays and exploring the charming shops, let the delightful voices of Welcome Yule carolers fill the air with holiday spirit.
Welcome Yule is an annual celebration of the light-filled traditions of the darkest time of the year, and their roots in many ancient cultures. Held every December at the Shea Theater in Turners Falls, MA, Welcome Yule is a family show full of music, dance, songs and stories.
Local award-winning singer and storyteller, Davis Bates, will share a participatory program for all ages. It will include farming stories and songs from the past and present, sea songs & chanteys, Native American stories, ghost stories and a family story about a Thanksgiving during the Depression of the 1930’s. There will also be plenty of sing-alongs, a short lesson in how to play music with spoons and an appearance by a dancing wooden dog named Bingo.

Whether you want to dance, tap your toes, or just listen, Wild Bill & Big Trouble will have you smiling and maybe even singing along.
