Music for Organ - farewell, for now Performance @ Trinity Church
An Organ Performance before restoration begins!
Description
To celebrate the imminent restoration and expansion of Trinity Churchʼs 1883 Hook and Hastings organ, there will be a “farewell, for now” organ recital performed by Music Director Keith Rollinson on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 4 p.m. Trinity Church is in the midst of the successful “Building Joy” capital campaign, one of whose main objectives is a renewal of its historic tracker action instrument. “Excellent craftsmanship and the pristine environment of Shelburne Falls has extended this organʼs life to more than 140 years, but it now warrants — and deserves — a thorough restoration coupled with a mild expansion to will allow it to support a wider breadth of organ literature,” says Rollinson. The work will be carried out by L. Gnodde, LLC, Organ Builders of South Royalton, VT and is expected to begin before the end of 2026 and last the better part of a year. Rollinson will play music by Sweelinck, Boyvin, Hindemith, Glass and others to illustrate the current capabilities of this beautiful organ. All are welcome. There is no admission charge, but free will offerings to support the organ restoration will be greatly appreciated.
