Explore Colrain, MA

Just north of Shelburne Falls, follow Rte 112 along the North River to discover the natural beauty of Colrain and get a glimpse of the Arthur A. Smith Covered Bridge.

Colrain has a vibrant community spirit and is home to two state forests:

  • Catamount State Forest
  • H.O. Cook State Forest.

These are great places for hiking, running, and biking, but be prepared for hills.

Catamount offers a pond, caves, and access to the site where the first US flag flew over a public schoolhouse in May 1812.

The town has a rich agricultural history, evident in the presence of many multi-generation family-run farms and orchards.

Don’t miss the annual Crafts of Colrain Open Studio Tour, where you can experience the beauty and craftsmanship of Colrain’s impressive local artists.
