History

Founded in 1925

The Shelburne Falls Area Women’s Club was founded in 1925, bringing local women together to socialize, learn through programs ranging from art and literature to current events and topics of interest, and work to improve our community. The club booklet from 1928–1929 first notes the club colors are lavender and white and the club’s flower is a purple aster. Our most notable achievement is the 1929 founding and continuing oversight of the Bridge of Flowers. But over its century of existence, the club has helped meet local needs by hosting diphtheria vaccine clinics and war relief programs, serving community meals, helping distribute warm clothes to needy children and raising funds for scholarships for students. The Bridge of Flowers plant sale and Moonlight Magic cookie sale have become beloved local traditions. We continue to bring local women together and to offer a variety of free programs for members and guests.

We are rightly proud to turn 100!
