Shelburne Falls in the Movies

A New England Village - Nancy Palmieri for The New York TimesNancy Palmieri for The New York TimesWithin a relatively condensed footprint, our area is home to geographically diverse locations and beautiful landscapes that have a rich cinematic look, making western Massachusetts an attractive location choice for filmmakers. Over the past several years, the region has been fortunate to host to Labor Day by Paramount Pictures, The Judge by Warner Brothers, and The Blackout by Charlemont Studios.

Congratulations to Robert Duvall for his Oscar nomination for his performance in The Judge, filmed in Shelburne Falls in 2013. Duvall made history with his Oscar nomination. The Judge star, 84, became the oldest supporting actor nominee ever.

He surpassed Hal Holbrook, who at 82 years, 339 days, was nominated for Into the Wild in 2007.
